I saw this on the stage first which was amazing musically but I couldn't fully understand the nuances of plot. The film was musically good but the intimacy of the acting brought a fuller understanding of the emotion of the beautiful music. So I love the film and the stage show for different reasons. Either way, it's simply a masterpiece, and my late wife and I loved it.
