Great, great book.
We were reading this in class, and as homework we had to finish the rest off over the holidays.
Of course, it was a great representation of the Russian Revolution, and how the promise of the people’s communism ultimately lead to a false promise, and the return to an autocratic system which it was trying to escape from.
I also think that this book is not just about Russia. It represented its cause so powerfully that it was banned by several countries, and its message was tried to be toned down by the US themselves when they bought the rights to the film. Essentially, I believe that it outlines that all political systems will eventually be overthrown by corruption and that our world now is simply a big mass of propaganda and false promises.
I also think that the book wasn’t that complicated and didn’t have to do that much, so props to Orwell for making it so powerful and popular.
All in all, great book, even communism has been completely contradicted, and ye. Read it, I guess.
Just my thoughts.
