The performances were very strong. I especially liked Andre Braugher. Overall, this movie missed many opportunities to satisfy its audience. And, why was the storyline with Ronan Farrow not explored/filmed or followed up with? Why weren’t the assaults by H. W. Depicted??? Why did you never see the face of the actor who portrayed H. W. ? If that was supposed to have some symbolic meaning, it went flying over my head.
But, the biggest problem with this film is the ending. They just gave it away. You never have the satisfaction of seeing W.W. Arrested, or suffering inside a prison cell. The film should have been about 7 minutes longer, and given all that cinematic pay off to the long suffering Viewer. I get the value of the backstory and life details of the survivors. I was just expecting to see a satisfying portrayal of justice being served. The filmmakers don’t feel that the audience deserved that. That’s a problem. The final scene is just so trite.
