Living in Thailand I’m impressed how the movie is faithful to the Thai culture, up to the little details of non-verbal Thai communication (mannerisms etc.). It would have been easy to neglect that, or being incompetent at it…! There is a real commitment to authenticity, not only to the facts of the event but to the context as well.
In addition to the heroic story, you get a visit to the rural Thailand with excellent photography as a bonus.
Sadly, the contribution of the Thai navy seals isn’t acknowledged properly.
“White man’s burden” again?
