I loved this show. Fans of the original Penny Dreadful series must realize this is not part of that world and is it's own show and story. 2nd I think the people saying the same actress shouldnt of played the Rio role, you're missing the point. The same actress is playing 4 different roles because they are all Magda, she cant change her looks to convince the audience but since shes a supernatural character, you can see how she has influence over the people around her, that's why shes there In the 1st place, to bring out their bad sides right? I dont know it seemed pretty true of the times even tho I wasnt here back then but they are doing a good job convincing me. I even researched the Sister Molly character and how shes based on Sister Aimee McPherson which I found very interesting.
