This adaptation totally destroys the intense vulnerability one would feel if sudden isolation is at your doorstep. The novel depends on the inability not to know what is going on. So many character and scene shifts, additions, and deletions have made the film unrecognizable. The ending completely misses the point of Rose being the only one in tune with nature and, therefore, a survivor. So many thumbs down!
