I think most people are holding this miniseries to a standard that makes no sense. This is a series intended for fans of the video games, though anyone with some working knowledge of the lore and characters (which is what I am) will be able to follow. It's meant to take us on an adventure that matches any of the last decades AAA games story beats, sans any gameplay between plot points. And it does that well. If you know anything about the games, you know to suspend some disbelief in order to enjoy the ride, and that bazookas and machine guns are in healthy supply in this world (seems any building is liable to have them). It's a bit silly but takes itself just seriously enough to tell a story through-and-through. It's essentially fan service, but done well and with some impressive amount of work put into the technical aspects. The miniseries and the new 2023 animated film are beautiful to look at, and they deserve applause for what went into them. If you aren't down for some silly zombie mutations, action-packed shootouts, and bazookas, then this isn't for you. If you played any of the games and enjoyed it, you will find this bearable at worst and genuinely fun at best.
