I felt this film was actually very clever, it describes how easily life on earth could fall apart and how we already have the tools to do that- ie when social media and corporations have a stronger voice than peer reviewed science. Peer reviewed science being the practice which is leading us today out of a pandemic. There are similarities between the film and what is happening in our world today.
I also felt it was highlighting the US govt response to Covid in a very subtle way. They use the words ‘uncertain times’ which is the word associated with this Covid crises. The slogan ‘don’t look up’ was brilliant- the President used this slogan to tell voters not to look at the truth, highlighting how a President can hide the truth in front of our eyes. I reflect on the pandemic and the govt response.:
It is a film which portrays a govt who cares more for tech corporations than saving the world, and that although they target a particular social class within society they do not actually respect that class.
I felt that the star studded cast were actually speaking in a political way, their presence in the film representing their support for the message.
Very interesting, political, satirical, thought provoking film, funny and light hearted at the same way. I laughed all the way to the end. Totally recommend it and I don’t recommend many films
