I have a difficult relationship with the resident evil movies. I LOVE the first couple, but felt like later movies felt like watching someone else playing a video game. A lot of action, very little substance by way of plot. The show does a great job including an interesting plot with the action. Occasional fight scenes still give first person shooter vibes, but it's not every action scene, so it's not over done. It ended on a cliffhanger, so I would very much like a season two. You don't need to have played the games/seen the movies to follow the show, but there are lots of subtle easter eggs for die hard fans.
