Hazel Written by Donna Davis. What can be said about this “Biography” … In truth it is a work of fiction. There are several things that Ms. Davis should have done prior to releasing this book.
1. Check her facts. The story she is telling is full of half truths and blatant make believe. Either Ms. Davis suffers from selective memory or she has convinced herself of that everything happened in her book which is suspected to have only played out in her mind is what truly happened. Get your facts straight by checking them. You know the same people that you name by their full names. The same people that you were not part of their lives or there when it happened.
2. Ms. Davis should have done her research if she was going to make this a biography. You know do the basic every writer knows should happen prior to writing a book. Unless it’ Science Fiction or you are making it about a make-believe world… Wait!! That is what she wrote a make-believe world!!! Because most of what Ms. Davis wrote never happened.
3. NEVER EVER write about things that have happened in other peoples lives without being there personally or doing the research. Writing what you think happened is just spreading lies, misinformation and honestly you do not have a clue as to what you are talking about and not having the true facts is simply wrong. It hurts the people you name.
4. Getting releases from living people to use their full names. This is so basic that its not even funny that you did not even do that. Yet you printed full names and where they live. What is wrong with you? Do you want to have a lawsuit filled against you? FYI, we are talking to a lawyer. You should have gotten a release.
For those who have decided to read this book please keep in mind that Ms. Davis has written a work of fiction. Yes, 25% did happen. The remaining 75% did not happen the way it was portrayed in the book. There are thing or situations that took place that Ms. Davis has no clue too because she was kept in the dark, was not there (we are talking sometimes 250 to 600 miles away not there) and was never part of the original conversations or situations that took place.
Please do not judge the family that she has painted in a bad light. I do not know what Ms. Davis has against the rest of the family; I do not know if she is wanting revenge for something or this is the only way she can make herself feel better about herself and her childhood. The sad fact is that the relationships she portrays in the book did not happen the way she claims. Maybe it is a way of coping because the truth is something, she is not able to handle. What ever her reason, also she has done is hurt people who cared about her. Yes, time between seeing each other has been long in between, but the road goes both ways.
