The first hour could have been summed up in 15 minutes, and after waiting for it to get anywhere for that hour it just never really got off the ground for the next hour and a half despite a great cast… Cate Blanchett was amazing. I expected monsters and ghosts, horror, magic… instead I got t watch a conman smoke for 2 1/2 hours, and there are literally just scenes of him standing smoking stretching it on. I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it… it was just kind of meh. American Horror Story did a better job with Freak Show weaving murder into a carnival, and was more entertaining.
