A delightful story that weaves together the lives of families and friends through the unique perspective of being set in a rural community just west of Lawrence, Kansas. The book uses local history, family lore, and and a series of unforeseen events to tie together two families and a community of friends to help Tyler, a young unmarried schoolteacher face the challenge of raising a daughter alone. Tyler suddenly finds his life dramatically changed when a newborn is delivered unceremoniously to his doorstep. The challenge of keeping and raising this baby in this setting provide the storyline that is filled with intrigue, excitement and love. A great read that left me wanting to know more about the local history of this area and how life is changing in rural areas. I would love a sequel told from the perspective of the next generation of characters in this book.
