The wait has been worth it. Bandish Bandits reiterates that Anand Tiwari's success with Love Per Square Foot (LPSF), staring Vicky Kaushal, Angira Dhar and Raghubir Yadav was no flash in the pan. LPSF presented Vicky Kaushal, who was only known for his critically acclaimed film Masan then, as a mainstream versatile Hero. Films like URI, Sanju and Raazi which followed confirmed this.
With Bandish Bandits, Anand Tiwari, proves that he can deliver a wholesome entertainer which appeals to both masses and resonates with critics with talented newcomers or debutants as central characters. Bandish Bandits is a well researched subject on the slow extinction of musical Gharanas that nurture and carry Indian Classical music forward. Excellent writing by Amritpal Singh Bindra and Lara Ahsan Chandni, sincere performances by new comers Ritwik Bhowmik and Shreya Chaudhary.
Music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy is mesmerising and forms the soul of the story. The album is a chartbuster already.
Above all director Anand Tiwari displays a fine balance of handling the aspirations of the new generation and how it contrasts with Old school represented by legendary Naseeruddin Shah and Atul Kulkarni. Anand keeps things simple and let's the story take its own course and pace for most of the episodes. This one made me binge watch 😊👍!
