One of the best novel I have read all year.

My new favorite author. The writing is beautiful. The connection of the two characters, Anita and Samuel connected by trauma in each of their personal stories. And finally let go to trust and love again.

Not a good read for me. Perhaps because I already knew about the Benchley ladies. So most didn’t surprise me. But, if you are unaware maybe it will be a good one. The story was too predictable and the characters fell flat. The story needed more meat. I usually read literary fiction. It was more like reading a light read. I really wanted to like it.

I have only 50 more pages. I can’t imagine I would my mind about Mr. Egan’s, A Fever in the Heartland. The had heard of the KKK in the south. I didn’t realize the intention was to spread the teachings throughout the north. The book is heartbreaking and too many parallels in our current day. Everyone who cares about our country. Who doesn’t like what’s going on today in 2023, and the history. Should read this book. It has me heartbroken, in tears. We haven’t changed. It’s easy to be convinced to hate. The book doesn’t read like a textbook. It reads like a thriller. Just want to keep turning the pages.

I still liked it. It was a different kind of book. I’m not going to say I enjoyed it, or hated it. How some of the characters intertwined. Some not at all. There were too many characters to keep straight. Even though the publisher listed them. What storylines to keep straight. Loved reading about the peninsula.
