It far exceeded my low expectations for this movie. Most sequels and remakes that come out so much later seem like great ideas but they wind up being bad 90% of the time If it were too much like the original I would have hated it. I asked friends how many nostalgia things would occur and what they might be and they did not over do it with nostalgia and old references. A couple cons I would say was really on the 1st 2 scenes with connelly were good, I liked the chemistry. After that maybe 3 or 4 more scenes with her was just them smiling and looking pretty. Could have had more dialog Maverick seemed to be very likable and had obviously grown up with a different philosophy on life. Near the end it seemed obvious they were having him make all the right decisions/ choices. Not a bad thing but I noticed it. And we know why. Highly entertaining and as mentioned movies like this are really bad and overly nostalgic. It didn't start off well with danger zone but many other things I thought would def be included in the movie for nostalgia were not there and I think that makes it a better movie if I can't predict it. Not that the plot was amazing and it's going to win any Oscar's but the original had a predictable plot also. No major twists and plot turns so that didn't bother me at all
