Well....hhhhmm. So there were moments where we saw some of the old wit and clever humour from the original and classic series. On the flip side there was also an over reliance on cheap humour in the form of david "niles v2" which although had a sense of nostalgia really just had us hoping for david hyde pierce to appear.
In respect of nicholas lyndhurst it saddens me that for a man who has famously worked with some amazing material across the decades (only fools, butterflies, the piglet files etc) is now nothing more then a cliched and cheap laugh when they could do so much more with him.
Kelsey grammar will always exhude charm and is a pleasure to watch as is most of the cast but this feels like they are trying too hard to drop easter eggs in or secret nods to the original series. Why not focus on the writing and allow us to engage with these new characters rather then force them down our throats by trying to make them cheap knocks off of the original cast.
