The 'Secret' is out - the casting of Tom Cruise is no longer the worst thing about the world of Jack Reacher! It's this entry in the series. The most compelling elements of Reacher, loner, smartest guy in the room, one step ahead, and his size and fighting skill. All are basically wasted here. Here's a Secret no one wants to see Reacher as part of a team! He is never out in front of the action seemingly showing up after events unfold or being provided info from someone else rather than working it out himself. Gone are the days of Reacher being able to suss out what hotel a suspect might be at just by looking at a map. Plus it felt like more than half the novel was told from the villains POV. Just a flat generic adventure novel

Honestly this movie is so good it doesn't even need Godzilla! The underlying story of post war Japan, PTSD and redemption carried the film. Don't get me wrong this is best version of Godzilla on film. Neither the campy fun of the rubber suited Toho flicks nor the modern big budget CGI version can compete. But what makes this story great, and is at best an afterthought in the Hollywood versions, is the human story. You don't go into Godzilla flick expecting to choke back tears but that is exactly what Minus One delivers!

I think if nothing else the copy and paste review bombs this film is getting because the Obama's were involved kind of proves the point of the film. Take the Obama's names off the film and this is a solid enough film. The acting was excellent, great use of music and the cinematography was cool. In the hands of someone like Jordan Peele it good have been really excellent. Is it a great film worth repeated viewing - no. But it kept me entertained and there were some genuinely tense moments. Giving it 5 stars in the spirit of the review bombing but actually only a 3

Revising my review downward. If this was the first time we were introduced to Raylan Givens no on would care and we'd never hear from him again. Pedestrian drivel. And for the love of God leave your daughter at home. I am going to force myself to watch this because Timothy Olyphant is still Timothy Olyphant and I'd watch him read a phone book but please don't let this be the last time we see Raylan. He can't go out like this. Oh and for all the people talking about "wokeness" please miss me with that BS this is not bad because it's "woke" whatever that is it's bad because of bad writing, lazy story telling, poor characterization and trying to fit a square peg into a round hole
