A lot of people are writing reviews on this book saying they hated Frances and found her lacking in empathy and unlikeable. If those people don't want to read books with real main characters, then they should say that. I found Rooney's characters very realistic and complex. Frances has feelings, but one of her main character traits is her disconnect with emotions and some people obviously didn't read close enough to pick up on that. I think some people don't like seeing a female character that doesn't have "female" traits, like being intensely emotional. Some of the reviews sound a little ignorant to me, but to each their own. Really loved this book👍
