What an insane book, every character in this book has their own issues going on, from some trouble with studying, to an abusive stepdad. A group of 5 friends stumble upon a fort and use it as a place of refuge and safety throughout the book. It’s amazing to see how the characters morals, values and the meaning of the fort changes throughout the book, Korman manages to convey an intriguing story while maintains the flow, with other books that switch between characters perspectives, I find this especially hard to do. My biggest problem with books in general is how abruptly they end, this book has a gradual ending which lets everything come into place at it’s own pace. Although, the books characters can often blend together a bit which leaves it harder to keep track of the story, otherwise this is an awesome book, 4 stars.
