Childhood's end written almost 70 years ago is an interesting look at the future I now exist in.
I have just reread it after 50 years and I'm amazed at how much Mr Clark prognostication's of how things will be, missed the mark technically.
On the other hand I found it evocative to read about things that are philosophical regarding telepathy, the future and precognitive ideas which I think about daily.
There is a dystopian aspect, that in the absence of struggle the human race loses its ambition and creativity. They simply exist in a golden age with no changing future to look forward to. Reading it again I would very much like to see elaboration of the Overmind that control the Overlords that led Humanity into this condition.
Science and spirituality seems to blur together in this read something I wasn't aware of 50 years ago.
I still haven't figured out why Arthur C Clarke wrote a disclaimer saying that the opinions expressed in this book are not the authors. Randolph
