I want to put this out there because I’ve played this game more than any other game I own, and I’ve been playing my entire life.
The campaign is brilliant.
The zombies modes are the best of any COD I’ve played. I’ve played zombies on AW, BO2, BO4, and this game, IW.
The maneuverability is not like any of the others. If you can master footwork, you can actually get out of a lot of sticky situations JUST with timing and sliding- unlike the other COD’s that have so many things sticking out of the map that catch you arbitrarily. Zombie maps are incredibly creative and the graphics are delightful.
There’s enough versatility with weapons that you can have a good time playing either Zombies or Multiplayer! BUT!
The greatest setback to this game for me is this: There are guys who literally have the exact same load out and rig, and they play the same way- which takes advantage of some glitch-like angles. The weapon they choose is called a Titan, it shoots like other weapons would- with the same damage as weapons with 30 bullets, but it has 100 rounds in it, and is so overpowered that it doesn’t take skill to rack up kills. It seems like if you’re going to have a gun that has 100 rounds- it should cause less damage, or should weigh you down, or be a payload, or something to that effect. They spent so much time creating an entire six or seven different categories of weapons with different attributes- pros and cons, to encourage different styles of play. And this gun type isn’t balanced at all. You can use it like a sniper or a midrange weapon and it’s no problem. You can even use it up close.
Why am I taking the time to gripe about one gun? Because the guys who aren’t chasing banners or achievements or skill just stay in the air or on the walls super super high up and walk around the map, and if you don’t know to look for them they can achieve 60 to 75 kills in a match without dying. In what game can that kind of dominance be common? I’ve seen 30 guys do it. That’s too common. And these guys learn that formula and mop the map.
It’s creative and fun on every level but that imbalance. And it makes the game not as fun as it would be otherwise. I respect skill. I respect talent. I applaud getting massacred and having my team wiped. The means by which someone does it is the difference between skill and formulaic glitch-like play styles.
If you have friends who play this game it’s a huge plus too. As a Christian, there’s a lot of banners and unlockables that allow me to represent my faith in the game. That’s rarer and rarer every COD that comes out. So this game has made me appreciate that element very much.
Cheers. See you on the battlefield, Titan wielding Synaptic jet packed no-talent having dudes!
