Skulduggery pleasant is an exquisite book with lots of twists and turns, mischief and deceit with many perks but with an equal number of snags. Let us start with the world they live in, they live with magic many types such as elemental and necromancy (which are the main types in this book) but this is all explained in books one to five.
Much of the book is centered on the main characters skulduggery (how is a walking Skelton) pleasant and Valkyrie Cain when they fight the death bringer but occasionally switches to less important characters such as a news reporter grabbing the story and is going to report the girl that can do magic. It is an exciting twist and really grabs your attention as you see the perspective of a regular man trying in vain to uncover the mystery of magic. There are other perspectives that all link to the main story eventually such as one with a certain person that leaves Skulduggery heartbroken.
The main plot is quite interesting but not to spoil it I will just say that the plot has a lot death and violence that and is not really for people under 10 and it can be very bad for behavior as I can induce violence. But on the flip side, It does show how only determination can solve problems. The main idea is that the necromancers are about to imitate the passage which is supposed to make everyone free, Skulduggery and Valkyrie have to stop it. This book is more for people how can read about blood, death, and violence without finding it hard to read also if you can imagine and accept the fantasy that resides in the book.
Now if you are new to the skulduggery series then I suggest that you read 1 to 5. The reason is that if you don’t you will never truly understand the how most of the characters and they came about such as fletcher, Tanith, China and Nye. These people aid Valkyrie in her quest to stop the world from getting destroyed by the death bringer.
Also, I recommend reading the books before watching the movies as it spoils the imaginative and creative vibe that this book gives off. The movies are good so do watch them as they do take another twist on the book.
Finally, this book is good but you need to get past the first two chapters to really enjoy the book fully as the first is a different perspective.
