A very interesting & complex storyline outlining a number of issues. However I did think it was unfair how Elena was portrayed as the bad guy when she clearly had good intentions - Mia was sitting on $400k but still chose not to give her daughter a better life. I feel like the bird cage represented the cage Mia had kept Pearl in - she denied her a normal life which in my eyes makes her a monster.
