I don't know. To be honest, the fact that Spike kind of had some of the gospel teachings and preaching within a rated R movie did not hit right within my spirit. If he was going to mix some of the gospel within something that is supposed to bring a message about the crazy killing within Chi-Raq he could have made that movie within PG-13 (at least). I don't know I feel like this message could have been more appropriate if it was more of a movie that young teens and preteens could have seen within the means of the movie about how serious random killings are. I think that idea of having a sex strike within the movie is quite unrealistic, for example, who's to say that gangsters can't find another woman who would be willing to have sex with them just cause? I don't think realistically speaking that a sex strike would work, I mean especially when the movies make the women over-sexualize within the process of trying to make the men "put away the guns." A proper sex strike would not tempt men while wearing certain outfits that create lust. Now, did this movie kind of offend black women as a means to say that they were oversexualized? It kind of did. I get the message but the way Spike Lee went about it did not sit right for me. Another thing that really got on my nerve was when the characters started to always rap, rhyme, or "whatever" within their script all the time. After a while it got annoying and I'd started to skip a bit over some of the scenes just to get over those parts while trying to finish the movie at the same time. I'm not bothered with the cast of the movie at all, but what I don't like is how it was as if all the killings in the world could have been stopped if women don't have sex with their men, I thought once Spike Lee made it to where the women all over the world had their sex strike was when it got really unrealistic for me, though that might have been the point, it doesn't change the fact that I did not like it. Something was off about the movie, like the jokes about having the soldier men dancing and singing to get the women "horny" was stupid to me. Or the fact that one of the main female characters was "tested" to see if she would sleep with her boyfriend near the end of the movie was ridiculous, It didn't make sense. I don't know I just think that there are better ways of spreading a message within a movie that adults can enjoy and really understand.

I thought the movie as a whole was great. I liked the twist and the during the whole movie I was laughing at the Hispanic chick being the "normal" one who doesn't want to be involved with the situation. Shout out to all of the actresses and even the amount of different languages within the dialog. Of course, like most movies, I think the fact that they have multiple "races" of women doing a movie in unison could be pushing the ideal nature that says "hey we should make a female lead action movie with different races and make them the heroes of the entire world" type of vibe. But all in all, I gave it five stars due to the fact that the whole movie was entertaining. I would say I was rooting for the Latino chick finally having the guts to shoot somebody, along with the fact that she had a natural reaction toward the whole situation. Of course, when it comes to the transition it was very interesting. It did made my heart beat when they killed the character's loved ones for the drive. (Sorry but not sorry for ruining the movie for someone). Anywho that being said I made my verse become alive But the movie is great to me I like it

It was something to watch, I think the story behind it was a bit ok, I mean to have to deal with the pressure of working for a very famous singer vs trying to maintain your own goals is what I think most people deal with when trying to maintain their job and also maintain their chance to bring their talent within the world as well. One part of the movie I did like was when the main character Maggie went to show her demo of her work in some kind of steam room with a legendary artist, Dan. It was when he asked if Maggie was really ready to work with musicians. He stated that before she knows it she might be on tour or writing music and end up realizing that she might have to see her siblings (if she had any) wedding, or that she could be writing lyrics, and turns out she might have missed something else. It shows the point of how working with an artist in some ways is just like being an artist because it requires a lot of sacrifices to maintain the business behind the sense of producing. All in all the movie as alright in a funny way it was kind of nice seeing Dakota in another light other than Fifty Shades of Grey LOL.

Ok I know some of you reading this might be thinking that I may be hatting on this movie because I gave it a one star. Honestly, I think the movie was "alright" It wasn't something that kept me personally wanting to finish the movie on what was going to happen next. I think that the color setting within the whole movie was a bit dull and boring with a very slow and too old-school feel for me. I don't know maybe if there was some dramatic argument or some kind of dramatic issue within the problem that would attract my attention then that would work. Within the movie whenever they went to the past revealing the story of one of the main characters' mother and her past I felt like it was during between the 1950-60s type of vibe instead of an 80s vibe. I don't know it got to the point where I was trying to focus but because of the lack of emotional appeal with the characters, it made me wonder if there was even emotion at all where there should be. One thing I notice the movie wanted us to pay attention to but not really gave the main focus to was how the main character wasn't even around her birth dad, and when she finally should up to meet him there were no tears, no dramatic hug, or any kind of emotional reaction to their meet that made me felt happy or worried that they were meeting within the old house. I just feel as though the movie should have been within some kind of twist that was more dramatic, I think when the twist came there was no kind of human emotion that was there to cause me to have a connection with the actors. I not saying that the actors were bad or that even the story was bad at all. I think that story could have been better but all in all, I think that if there was drama within the movie it didn't feel like it because there was no one reacting within an outburst, or at least if there was supposed to be comedy there at least have some kind of joke or even a moment happen to where it causes you to really laugh and re-wind that part to see it again. I felt like the plot with the main character worried about ever being in love because of her mom didn't really make sense if there was not going to be a moment the movie showed her dying, or if they were going to do that at least have it to where the main character as a kid might have seen certain things happen between her moms and dads relationship that change her life or viewpoint on how love is. I'm not asking for the movie to be an action pack craze or anything, I just felt the movie was too slowed down, and it should at least have some kind of comedic, drama, or sad scenes there that were a bit engaging within a consistent standpoint. If you guys like the movie more power to you, but honestly the word I would describe this movie for me (personally) would be "boring." The setting, directing, color scheme/theme, dialog, ( a little bit of the story), and the plot as within a boring standpoint. The thing and ideas within the movie that were great was that it was a movie about African American love and that the soundtrack was a bit cool. Personally, I think that hype was added within the trailers because of the actors.
