Pather Dabi is a must for those who want to know and tread the path of a true revolutionary. Whether Sabyasachi succedes or not is a matter of discussion. I would not go into that. But the way he has been depicted all through the novel and his subtle deliverance of his role is enough testimony to the fact that as a character he is successful. The last portrayal of the novel might bring sensation of sadness to the readers but his sudden departure heralds a new beginning, beginning of a new strive to bring about revolution. Talking about other characters, Apurba and Bharati play their own role. They act as catalyst for the character of Sabyasachi. Through them mistakes and faults have been presented which are corrected by Sabyasachi.
