As an avid fan of the books, seriously I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read the series, I can say I’m now a big fan of the tv show. I love that the casting is the actual age the characters were. I also think they chose great actors. When I saw they changed Annabeth at first I was skeptical and worried this was going to be another She hulk like liberalization of beloved characters at the expense of the story but actually the actress is great! She really portrays how closed of Annabeth was in the beginning. My only gripe in that department now is they didn’t give her grey contacts buts it’s a big detail in the books. But considering how good they’re doing with everything else I’m willing to forgive that. I think Mr D could be portrayed a little more accurately but they aren’t far off. They did a great job with Luke and Clarrisse. Grover is also portrayed well but id like to see his well known habit of eating junk when he’s stressed. The script is good and sticks pretty closely to the books with minor changes which are made to make it easier for new fans to catch up on everything faster. One thing I thought was weird and unnecessary was them saying Annabeth is the best warrior in the camp. Annabeth can hold her own for sure but her great strength was always her mind for strategy not brawn as a warrior. As long as Disney can resist the urge to liberalize this beyond reason I think this series will do great. (Btw I’m liberal I vote democrat every time and Obama was my favorite president and I was a Bernie supporter but I don’t like when they liberalize things at the expense of beloved characters and the story.)

As a big fan of the books I’m fairly disappointed with the show. For several reasons: 1: The changes they made are either terrible, pointless, or political but mostly all three. 2: The show is super liberal. I vote democrat every time and it’s still too much for my taste. They really shove it down your throat and at the expense of what should be one of the greatest fantasy shows ever rivaling or surpassing game of thrones just like the books do. Like they even liberalized the behavior of the characters and changed there personalities it’s just terrible like the interaction between Rand and Perrin when they argue was dumb af and disrespectful to both characters. 3: They made the main character not the main character. I get it there’s a lot of characters to develop but they made other choices besides screen time that really make it so the main character does not feel like the main character. 4: I’m not a huge fan of the casting. I think Nynaive (forget how to spell the name it’s been a while and it’s a tough one) was PERFECT. And Rand is good as far as appearances go. Lan is also great! But the rest are pretty bad. I think Egwenes was the biggest disappointment. Considering her character and her arc and amazing growth idk she just doesn’t look it to me. The direction they went with producing an ageless look for the aes sedal (basically 50+ year old women with a lot of Botox and plastic surgery) was all wrong to me. I would have gone with younger actresses maybe around 30 and done some things to make them seem older and wiser than they should be. Cosmetically, personality wise, and with dialogue.
