This is a book that helps us to gain insight into the lives of individuals in Jamaica in the early 20th century. What is socially understood in the day- to-day affairs of these people. Outstandingly, it draws attention to the hope given to men. The hope that has been shared earth wide about never dying at all. It is found in the statement, "I want to talk to you some day about millions will not die at all . . ." Interesting that Carlos incorporated this Bible based hope in the narrative of this novel; an understanding and application of Revelation 7:13 - 17.
