While this is the second book in the series it's my favorite of the first three. I read all of these a few years back and fell in love with the world and characters! The setup for the third book done in this one and the overall plot make this the strongest in the trilogy in my opinion!

I read the first six books back in high school and fell in love with the series! If I had known the series continued with three more books I would've read them by now. This is one of the greatest series I've ever read in fact! The combination of a Lord of the Flies-esque plot being taken to the next level with writing similar to Steven King, and finally, Michael Grant's own great writing make this the perfect series for anyone into sci-fi, supernatural, and darker genres!

I'm a sucker for classic or classic inspired vampire media and picked up the first book in the Department 19 series back in high school. It was the best literary decision of my life as it has led me to where I am in my own writing path. I followed it up by reading the rest of the series through my high school library and none of them disappointed me. I loved this series, and still do! The characters and lore that connects them is amazing and I hope to see a possible continuation of the franchise later down the road. Will Hill is a master of the supernatural genre in my opinion from this series alone!
