Honestly just go watch the BBC version. For me I love their Jane Austen adaptations better than the others every time. This just lacked the depth of characters, and I think their portrayal of Anne was very lacking, and they made her seem rude and unfeeling especially towards family. She seems very silly and quite stupid compared to the kind Anne in the BBC version. The costumes were quite horrible, and the hair on Anne was not at all correct to that period. Mary’s home looked like a modern day home, just with a few items to attempt to make it look more period correct. I don’t have any problem with black actors and actresses, but in that day and age there were not many blacks people of high rank. It feels very inauthentic. Anne and Frederick have conversations that never happened, and the BBC version shows how hurt Frederick really was, whereas the Netflix version threw them together too quickly. The whole movie seemed very cheap and inaccurate. Save your time and go watch the BBC version.
