I count this as one of the best movies ever; excellent acting and a terrific story that's so real it hurts. I've seen it twice and if I have the opportunity, I will see it again even though it has not much that's positive but it has real life with all the suffering in it. It's perhaps a consolation to see those that are much better off financially than most can also have painful experiences from events out of their control.

Totally biased view of China based in just one family's account of supposed abuses during the Cultural Revolution. I would have liked to see a more balanced account. I didn't believe half of what this doco tells us.
