As a huge fan of the Dune novels, I have to talk about what was not in the movie. I appreciated the visual quality and the performances of the cast, but I can’t understand why certain elements of the story were left out. The back story of main characters like Gurney and Duncan is completely ignored as is the fact that Piter and Thufur are mentats and what that signifies. The Imperial Suk conditioning that Dr. Yueh had gone through that was supposed to make him unable to go against the house he serves, not mentioned at all. And the worst omission was that of the dinner party at the Ducal residence, and the politicking and intrigue that occurred during that scene.
