Someone already pointed out, but between those complaining about the Jackal blowing things to erase his marks are hilarious. He's already called attention to his shooting location. He needs to get out quick, not sit around trying to clean up all his traces.
Builds in a complex situation for the character. Eddie Redmayne is an outstanding choice for the cold, almost alien creature who carries out these jobs dispassionately; a shapeshifting chameleon whose decision-making is tremendous, almost making you want to champion his every escape, his every disappearance into the background. Edward Fox may have made for an excellent Jackal, but this character almost feels like a more realistic interpretation - what would be the point of all those millions if you didn't actually have a life behind to live? Nuria’s curiosity about where her husband keeps disappearing to could be as much of a threat to his viability.
The flipside is Lashana Lynch's investigating officer, who appears to be the only person willing to do the legwork and analyse the details but who has her own issues (and complex family life) which make her job that much harder. Hsere she has a slightly different flavour, clearly very intelligent and insightful, able to make connections that others don't see as quickly - or at all - but she's also only human, with questionable decisions and tactics putting her right on the back foot from the outset.
This Jackal makes mistakes, he leaves a trace, he skates close to the edge. The genius of the show is you’re never quite sure whether you want him to plummet or to fly.
