Viewed the first episode of the Netflix documentary. Couldn’t even finish the episode, it was basically just a bunch of feminists complaining that most porn is produced by men for men. Worse, they complain that because the vast majority (97%) of porn is consumed for free on the various tube sites like RedTube, PornHub, etc it’s very difficult for paid-porno producers (like themselves) to secure the necessary funding to produce “high quality” porn aimed at pleasing women. The documentary totally lost me when they showed a clip of a porno (no actual privates are seen) where the guy basically grabs the girl by the back of her head and thrusts her face so hard into his pelvis that she can barely breathe, and the speaker (Erica Lust) is whining that most porn is like this and how it’s mostly focused on the male’s pleasure and how rough he can get with her. Talk about cherrypicked examples. Seeing how men typically consume more porn than women (women represented only about 29% globally of traffic to PornHub in 2018) it’s no surprise that porn tends to be aimed at men, however this “documentary” didn’t seem to care about the facts, they were more interested in pushing their narrative that “the porn industry is a men’s only club and it’s wrong”. I couldn’t make my way through it, and honestly if you want a more accurate idea of how women truly feel about porn, you’re literally better off reading the comments section of any given porn video on PornHub or YouPorn etc as plenty of women leave their opinions there (spoiler: many of them enjoy it as much as we men do).
