As a huge fan of the original Gladiator film for the raw talent and emotion the main actors (in particular reference to Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix and ofc Oliver Reed), this film just failed miserably to do any of them justice.
The colosseum battles, (the few that there were) focused ONLY on creatures and not man on man combat.
Some actors underplayed their roles significantly, whilst others played it so over the top at times I thought was a mock of the first film like 'meet the Spartans is of '300'.
Just shows they shouldn't 'milk the cash cow' and leave iconic films alone. Not all successful films need a sequel or a remake.
