Another reviewer contends that Tricia says she and her husband arrived in Vietnam right after the Tet Offensive, which would be quite incorrect—except that what Tricia actually says is that she and her husband arrived in Vietnam “right after Tet,” i.e., the Vietnamese lunar new year festival, which was indeed in early February in 1963. She is not referring to the Tet Offensive of 1968, although that is the context in which we usually hear about Tet in the West.
Anyway, onto the book: marvelous as ever. McDermott always delivers.
