(No Spoilers in this review) Portrait of a lady on fire is a French film from director Celine Sciamma. I had not seen many clips from this movie, so I did not know what to expect. I was blown away. Every shot in this film is breathtaking. There is this sense of longing throughout the movie. The characters merely glance at each other with such intensity and passion. It's really the little things in this film that make it so romantic and beautiful.
It is a slow film, but never boring. I never found myself checking the time, and I do that a lot. It's so captivating I didn't want to miss a second of it. I think that is what makes a great film. When you watch it, you know that this is the best way to spend your time, if that makes sense. I highly recommend this film. Warning: It is rated R, and some parts of the film may be uncomfortable. There is some nudity, but nothing over the top or gratuitous. It is an amazing film.
