One of the greatest Rock albums ever made. Nothing else sounds like this. Over-the-Top singing with Beatle-esq harmonies and a lead singer with several octaves of range, right out of an African-American church. The guitars, bass, and sitar are the most melodious metal you have ever heard. Lots of Jazz chords, arpeggios, string bending and harmonics dominate the sound. I can assure you that each song features drop D or other non-standard tunings, giving the whole album an other worldly, ethereal sound, yet with constant gut and power. The bass was run through multiple amplifiers to extract and boost harmonics, giving it a giant piano tone. Drumming never gets in the way, but always adds to the complexity. Is this Rock, Prog Rock, Metal, or something else? American Episcopal Methodist Metal? It is impossible to say. No other band sounds like King's X, and this is their finest work.
