I gave this book 3 stars mainly because having read "The Silent Patient" before, it set a high bar for suspense and plot twists that "The Maidens" didn't quite match. Additionally, I noticed parallels in both stories involving the deceased influencing the crime, which dampened my excitement. Analyzing the characters, some felt redundant, possibly included to confuse readers, and I expected a more conclusive ending for characters like Henry. Despite these issues, I believe my rating might have been higher if I hadn't read "The Silent Patient" prior. Overall, it's a decent book.
