The acting was great, Diaz did a great job portraying a stone cold b. The dialogue was fantastic and unexpected for this type of movie. Several wisdoms' that I should have written down via Diaz's character and throughout the movie. Lots of parables and wisdom surrounding the nature of greed and humankind.
There were three really solid male actors as well. Fantastic male lead. I loved all three and really wish I could have seen more of Brad Pitt haha. Lots of realistic effects and stark realistic scenes overall kept me interested throughout the entire movie. I really rallied for the hero til the end. A more bleak ending than I'd hoped for, but sometimes shakepearian realism is bleak. Plus what do we expect from a movie about the Mexican drug cartel?
I do wish that the character development that was brewing had gone further. This movie could have been better, with more main character connection and a tighter plot. A couple of times it felt slightly disorganized or scattered, but it pulled itself together when it counted. Plus finding out it was directed by Ridley Scott was a surprise! Thinking back over the film, I can see that now. I lost my affection for the lead female actor in the end, but I believe that was the idea. I felt a little bit of a let down by the way it ended. But, overall, everything taken into account, I really enjoyed the ride and would recommend it to my friends.
