This book offends me but not for the graphic showing of kids being slammed into walls till they die, but rather how it ends, SPOILERS, but basically the kid mice who’s a journalist getting information from his dad about the holocaust stop around the end of the book to ask where is his mom’s diary before she died, his dad exclaims that he once had a very bad night and burned all of his wife’s book, his son then leaves to “never” see him again because he thought that he murdered his wife. This is a clear misunderstanding since while I could imagine his dad burning the book out of guilt, it’s more believable that he had a horrible night, remembering everything that he once suppressed, and trying to getting rid of it in haste, burned all the books. Yes it’s was a bad decision to do so, but that can happen when you want to suppressed dark chapters in your history of living on this planet. I know this gets resolved in the next book, but why do I need to fork out another $17 just to get the “good” ending of a book that’s supposed to inform you about the holocaust, not to get more money out of you, for that reason alone, it gets 1.6/5 stars.
