Beautiful imagery and commendable choice in introducing a black actor in the portrayal of Heathcliff. However, the dialogue is what fully communicates the passion between Kathy and Heathcliff and exposes the powerful thematic issues throughout the storyline. In excluding it, the film missed so many opportunities. Unfortunately, in this case, I’d prefer an ancient depiction of this riveting body of work- packed with dialogue than experience such creative liberties. I wanted so much to love it but no, it’s beautiful integrity has been compromised.

This was not Mansfield but Womansfield Park. A complete disgrace to the original text. Too much artistic liberty has been taken with every character in the novel, none more than the story's protagonist, Fanny Price. While everything else about this novel has been completely botched by the film, nothing is worst than perspective/tone portrayed by Fanny who has been so immaculately fashioned by Jane Austen. While the cinematography is beautiful and the thematic exploration of slavery is welcomed, this is not the same story. These females are TOOOO FOWARD lol.
