The first 10-20 minutes was rushed, but overall it was a lot of fun. Dragon Quest stories are too complex to distill down to a single movie without feeling rushed and losing a lot of the payoff from letting the story build. You really won’t see the ending coming. The world of Dragon Quest is as charming as ever, even with a slight departure from the source art style. I really hope we get a sequel, although in a format that makes more sense for Dragon Quest storytelling. Fingers crossed Netflix picks it up and gives us a series based on stories from other games.
