Mc claimed books are almost always excellent reading, this one is no exception. However this plot is a little strange. The Germans have the guns in this mountain early in the war, soon after they overran Greece. It would take YEARS to build the fortress and install those massive guns. It takes months to install guns like that on the open deck of a ship, never mind in a cave.
