From the title to the core, this movie makes no sense, it has no resolution, no motive or real message. In many opportunities the lead character could have made things right, but decided not to. Her acting is totally flawed, but it looks like no one will say it out loud, ever though most of the people who have watch it have the same opinion, and bare in mind I am Chilean and these people are also proud Chileans. The rest of the cast is great, but is wasted in a non existing plot. Sooo disappointing.

I am not quite sure why this movie was made in the first place. It narrates the story of a well know food writer, but it doesn’t paint the best picture of him, as a spoilt child in a male dominated world who, at the age of nine could already have the social prism by which to identify working class as “common”. And let’s face it, this is the only reason why he would refuse to give his father”s second wife a chance, who otherwise would have been a great mentor if given the chance. Needless to say this woman cooked for him and served him for years! This movie does nothing but highlighting the stigma of working class women and the arrogance of men. This young boy had no struggle to become whomever he envisaged, simply because he was a man in a world of men, and ends up entering a kitchen full of men, what’s the triumph in that?
