I listened to this book about 6 months ago while I worked. I was searching around for a decent book to listen to and I lightly browsed the preview of the book. I went in thinking it was a book on a global pandemic, but I was so wrong. The global pandemic was just a tool the author used to show the struggles of each person. The main part of this book was the human side. Each person had a new deep struggle and a traumatic past and you walked with them whether they moved past it and resolved it or not. Each person, I was able to see them as human, through their traumatic past or their bleak situation. The book made me pause and think so many times. I won’t spoil but the situations that were presented really made me think about life as a whole, things we take for granted and also how short it can be. The stories were very broad and covered and lot of unique struggles. The stories really left me feeling bittersweet, especially with the fact that you never revisit a character, only slight references in the other stories. The best way I can describe this book is bittersweet. I do have to say a lot of the concepts are bizarre, especially the last story of the book. All in all, I still think the story was very creative that still came together to show the human in people, even through the worst struggles and traumatic past. Going to read his other book and can’t wait for another publication. 5/5
