Heavy going but worth the effort. Unger's section is around twice as thick as the Smolin section partly because of its repetition and lack of a clear direction. The validity of the infinite is questioned but an infinity of opportunities, especially in biological evolution, is allowed more than once. Also, the use of qualia to justify the reality of time leaves open the problem of defining a 'moment' which, presumably, requires the quantization of time, otherwise accessing the moment would be like trying to grab a bar of soap.

This book must be read in conjunction with 'The Singular Universe And The Reality Of Time', a book that argues, equally convincingly, to a different conclusion.
