A film to enjoy because of Jonny Depp's acting, but a film clearly throwing a few bones to the men of the world who are "tired" of "feminist propaganda"....it was a bit sickening to see the female students just sit there and take that, and also completely unrealistic that they wouldn't have walked out on his class in 2018.
Also, the movie is a bit one-noted emotionally in general. I did enjoy his relationship with his best friend and daughter....although it is sort of strange that he treats some of his female students with contempt, but not his daughter. Maybe he is just misplacing his anger towards his wife. Probably.
Some issues that are hard to ignore overall. but I suppose most people do ignore the issues, since it is Jonny Depp after all, and I guess he can get away with it.
And (semi spoiler alert) I suppose the writers thought the audience would think it was deep to "take the road less traveled" ....which was oddly the road most traveled in cinema....why not have him realize he should go home instead? hmmmmm ...but no....take the poor dog who clearly knows better than you and is whining to go home into the unknown. Good choice...good choice....
