Fennell’s film is like watching a collection of ‘come-to-life’ glossy magazines, that need a thread to hold them all together. It’s as if the pages were ripped from harpers bazaar, the Face and Dazed & Confused. I can believe it’s a good, slightly lighthearted study of life at Oxford, and the upper class/ idle rich . Ignore some of the plotholes and weaker parts of the story and enjoy the characters of the ‘kind Felix Catton’ , quirky Matriarch of Rosamund Pike, posh Dad of Richard E Grant , and magnetic protagonist played by Keoghan. At its core though , it feels like a romp through the pages of a seductive coffee table book with a soundtrack by an Instagram account.
