Story starts out pretty good but gets very weak at the end. This guy did too much acid and shrooms in the 60-70’s and wrote this book based on ‘real life events’. 1. Joy we find out at the end of the book was an underage high school runaway when Dan met her in collage. Pedo. And at 15-16 she was already ‘enlightened’ by Socrates. 2. Dan has a daughter and wife who he forgets exist, while he spends 6 years on his enlightening journey. Even upon his return and remarriage never mentions his daughter. 3. The whole enlightening is to find “nothing”. Be content with what you have and where you are. Be nothing do nothing. Realize everything is pointless. Don’t take care of your responsibilities, don’t take care of your wife or kids, leave them behind on your path to enlightenment. How is this inspiring??
