A positive step forward for the Franchise
Pros
- A well told story, with lovable characters given respect and depth.
- Solid gameplay in the "Open Zone," a solid formula I'd like to see expanded upon in the future. Momentum anyone.
- Combat is a fantastic addition, with a flashiness comparable to a Shonen Manga protagonist, I love it. More of that please.
- Memorable set-pieces. The Titan bosses are by far my favorite.
- Outstanding soundtrack. Seriously might be some of the best music this series has ever composed.
Cons
- Cyber Space stages feel horrible to control, especially when compared to how well Sonic controls in the open Zone
- While I like the combat, I wish I had more moves to upgrade Sonic with, or more traversal options like the tricks. Collecting skill points became useless halfway through the game.
- You can't re-fight Titan bosses without starting a new game
Overall, I'd say Sonic Frontiers is a good game, an easy 4/5 for me.
